i don't think it works with win8 64. won't run even in compatibly mode. a 1 just because i could not test it.

opera's rushed releases shows a real lack of concern over quality. they simply are no longer listening to their loyal users who are reporting more and more bugs and regressions, seemingly in vain.for me, flash video players smear down the page when scrolling and the extension preference over sight(see my 64bit review) are reasons enough for me to not only not upgrade but perhaps begin looking elsewhere

i bought a new hp notebook with windows 7 ultimate and downloaded xp mode from microsoft. that took 90 minutes. it worked okay the first time, except for my not knowing how to get it to recognize my flash drive. the next day, i started up the pc again and later clicked for xp mode. this little window pops up and tells you it is opening virtual pc or something. you have to wait three or four minutes for this to activate the xp mode, much longer than i would prefer to wait. then the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh attempts that i made to open xp mode all failed. it would give me an error message, "could not enable the integration features" then suggests i try again or continue without these features. why should i continue without the features, and what features will be i be sacrificing? that doesn't make sense. i called microsoft and asked them to help me. they opened a case and did their best to get xp mode to work, but were unable to do so. thus i returned the computer to hp for a refund. i ordered another notebook that has windows 7 32-bit. i think this will be the answer to being able to use my old software. xp mode is not worth it.

comparing xfind to windows grep is like comparing a chevy corvair to a corvette! this is a much more advanced search tool. granted, you can get similar functionality using a command line grep in a unix shell, but if you want the convenience of a gui, windows grep is the way to go. it includes quick, regex and soundex searches, date & size filters, settings for unformatted, delimited and fixed-width text files (also binary files) and a search & replace option. the output window is configurable as well.i've used this tool for the past 3 years and have no complaints. however it appears that since there are no bugs to fix, the author has stopped development of this tool. this beta version was released two years ago!

a recent news report on bbc which i can't find showed tor is being used by the depraved among us to access child abuse etc. though these are in the minority those hosting tor need to be aware of at least in the uk indecent material just passing though their servers can implicate them despite being innocent themselves & resulted in this case of pc gear being seized.the flip side is recently i visited a large caribbean island where internet restrictions are draconian & totally suppresses residents being able to access information that may be deemed to be against the state (basic freedom of information) & for these people who can actually own pc␙s proxy servers are a lifeline to factual information although the restrictions i saw are so tight the likes of tor are no longer that helpful.

@aegis69 - the only reason most keep using ms office is the use of vba (or vb scripting. those documents don't work in libreoffice. if libreoffice would support vba then some more people would be inclined to use it. i personally know someone who has an excel spreadsheet they will not part with for this very reason.
