@ trollfiles splited with hjsplit:? 001 002 003?files with extensions that look like: "filename.rar.001"?winrar cannot handle that type of file! and it makes me wonder....why not?7-zip & peazip do the job!

i want my musicmatch back! i found it stolen from my hard drive - just plain missing - gone!when i tried to doenload it again - yahoo! took its place - and it's a mess - all my saved playlists were also gone. yahoo is not a user friendly thing and it's slowing down everything else on my hard drive. i'll have to delete it - and use something else. i just can't tolerate the non-sense.

comparing xfind to windows grep is like comparing a chevy corvair to a corvette! this is a much more advanced search tool. granted, you can get similar functionality using a command line grep in a unix shell, but if you want the convenience of a gui, windows grep is the way to go. it includes quick, regex and soundex searches, date & size filters, settings for unformatted, delimited and fixed-width text files (also binary files) and a search & replace option. the output window is configurable as well.i've used this tool for the past 3 years and have no complaints. however it appears that since there are no bugs to fix, the author has stopped development of this tool. this beta version was released two years ago!

to people with install problems (seems like it wants to install something else?) - had this too. put the msi/download in it's own directory and install from there.insane requirements -- a good graphics card, gobs of ram, fast cpu. i give it the highest mark because when everything is working right, it is visually stunning, and blows everything else (celestia, google sky, etc) out of the water.now if we can only get them to release photosynth for everyday joes to create their own collections, that would be something.addendum -- i had to uninstall the old one to get the new beta to correctly install

i will agree with tangentlin on all points. as the owner of two garmin gps machines, i find them very useful. (i can't let my wife outside the house without one.) but garmin can't do many of the things streets and trips can do, and google, while a great resource, cannot do many of the things that can be done with streets and trips, and those things that google can do is frequently more difficult. you get what you pay for. google is free, so if you don't want to pay for s and t, you still can do some of the things that s and t will do.that said, i was unable to download this trial of s and t, which i wanted to compare to my present 2008 version, to see if the maps in my area had been updated. ms requires "registration" and while i am reqistered with ms, the webpage the download link sent me to told me that either my email address or password was wrong. i know, of course, that the information i provided was correct. however, i notice at the bottom of the "registration" page this "we are unable to complete your request. windows live id is experiencing difficulties. please try again later." i gave this software a 4 because it is excellent (based on the 2008 version). if it were freeware, i would have given it a 5. edited addition 9/3/2009 - the website is now up and i have my copy of the 2010 version. the 2008 version has some minor mapping errors in my area. i checked and they have been fixed in the 2010 version. a missing street in my community is now on the map, as is a recently constructed and opened freeway about 30 miles from my home. my only complaint is the dark toolbar which, i believe, was added for the 2009 version. i haven't checked, but there may be a "skin" to fix that, but it is, after all, only cosmetic, and certainly not a major problem. i do recommend this software. get it at costco and save some money.

i wonder how this compares to the - sadly no open-source - ext2 ifs, i've been using it (ext2 ifs) for a while and it's working well...

i think it's about time we abandon support for winxp or at least treat it as a distinct secondary thought. this software has always at least been as good as daemon tools for what i use it for. nothing gets a 5
